This page is maintained by the Houm team to explain how we handle your personal information when you use houm.com.au and related services (the "Service"). Houm operates in Australia and complies with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
- Account info: name, email, phone (optional), profile photo (optional).
- Listing content you publish: address, photos, price, description.
- Messages you send through the Houm inbox.
- Basic analytics: pages visited, device type, approximate location (IP-based).
2. How we use it
To operate the Service — show listings, deliver messages between renters/buyers and owners, prevent fraud, and improve the product. We don't sell your personal information.
3. Who can see what
Public listings and Seeker profiles are visible to anyone on the internet. Your email and phone number are never displayed publicly — enquiries are routed through Houm's messaging system. Exact addresses are hidden and replaced with an approximate map pin if you opt in to "hide exact address".
4. Storage & security
Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted to authorised Houm staff.
5. Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data at any time from your dashboard, or email us to request a full export or deletion.
